The INUKTUN Long Range Pipe Crawler (LRPC) undergoes testing.
Inuktun Services Ltd. (www.inuktun.com)
is a designer and manufacturer of modular, remotely operated systems and
components for use in confined spaces, underwater and hazardous
environments. Inuktun was in the process of producing a vehicle capable of
inspecting up to 2000 meters of pipe, but their engineering staff were too busy
meeting the demands of a very full production schedule to complete the
development. SH Scientific Systems Ltd. was brought in to complete the
hardware and software integration required to make the system ready for its
first rental.
Key Facts
The system consisted of a multi-track, articulated vehicle with attached Pan/Tilt/Zoom
and FireflEYE cameras, a 2000 meter electro/optical tether on a powered winch,
top end controller, pendant user interface and video monitoring and
recording equipment.
SH Scientific Systems Ltd. carried out the final testing, modification
and integration of hardware and software for all of the components of the system.
Many difficulties and obstacles were encountered and solved in a timely
manner.
A fully functioning system was available in time for the first rental of
the unit, only two months after SH Scientific Systems took over the job.
